ELD-X is the hunting side of the same technology. It carries the Heat Shield tip — a heat-resistant polymer that doesn't soften from aerodynamic friction the way conventional tips do — but the bullet underneath is built to expand across a much wider velocity band than a match bullet ever needs to.
That is the hard problem in long-range hunting ammunition. Most bullets either come apart at close range or fail to open at the low velocities you see past 500 yards. A thick shank and the InterLock ring hold the core to the jacket for penetration up close, while the front end still opens when it arrives slow.
143 grains at 2,700 fps with a .315 G7. This is the load that made 6.5 Creedmoor a serious hunting cartridge rather than just a target one — mild recoil, and it still opens reliably well past where most people are willing to shoot at an animal.
