The short leg extension, and it solves a narrower problem than its taller sibling. There is a gap between prone and seated that neither position covers well — the shot where the ground is uneven, or there is just enough grass to obscure the target, or you are on a slope that puts your muzzle into the dirt. You do not need to sit up. You need three or four more inches.
These thread onto the bottom of the existing bipod legs to provide exactly that. They keep the rifle in a low, stable, prone-style position while lifting the muzzle clear of whatever is in the way, and because the lift is modest the shooting platform stays as rigid as it was — a taller extension inevitably gives up some stiffness.
Carbon fibre, so the weight is negligible and there is no real argument against keeping them in the pack permanently. They come on and off by hand.
If your problem is genuinely that you cannot get prone at all — deep sage, standing crop, snow — buy the 17.5-inch version instead; this length will not get you into a seated position. Fits Rugged Ridge Extreme Pod Gen 2 and Gen 3 bipods.
