ELD Match is Hornady's competition load, and the tip is the whole argument. Hornady's own testing found conventional polymer tips soften and deform from aerodynamic heating in flight — the bullet leaves the muzzle with one BC and arrives with a worse one. The Heat Shield tip uses a heat-resistant polymer that holds its shape downrange, so the round flies to the number printed on the box.
The lightest of the three 6.5 Creedmoor match loads and the fastest at 2,910 fps. Lower BC than the 140 and 147, so it gives ground past 600 yards — but it recoils less and shoots flatter up close. A reasonable choice for a shorter barrel or a shooter still building position.
