A compact first focal plane scope, which is a harder engineering problem than it sounds and a rarer thing to find done well. The intended homes are lightweight hunting rifles and special-purpose rifles — Mk12-pattern guns and similar — where the rifle has to stay handy but the shooting still has to be precise.
The reticle is the reason to choose this over the second focal plane version. FC-MRx uses a segmented center circle and bold outer lines, so at the bottom of the magnification range it behaves much like a red dot: fast, obvious, and usable with both eyes open. Zoom up and the same reticle resolves into a fine grid you can measure and hold with. That is the specific problem a first focal plane reticle usually fails at — being useless at low power — and this reticle was drawn to solve it for this magnification range in particular.
Because it is first focal plane, the grid's values are constant at every power setting. On a rifle that genuinely gets used across its whole zoom range, that removes the second focal plane's central irritation: having to be at one specific magnification for your holds to mean anything.
Illumination is DigIllum, which is what makes the segmented circle work at first light rather than just in daylight. Elevation is an exposed FieldSet turret — dial and zero stop reset in one action with a field-expedient tool, no armorer required. This version carries the MOA-graduated FC-MRx; an MRAD version of the same reticle is also produced.
