The lightest and shortest scope in the NX6 family, and the one that makes sense on a rifle you carry all day rather than one you set up behind. Mountain rifles, timber rifles, guide guns — anywhere the deciding factor is what the rig weighs on the eighth mile, not what it can resolve at the tenth ring.
The low end of the zoom range is the important number on a scope like this, even though it is the one buyers ignore. Wide enough to find an animal quickly at close range with both eyes working, and wide enough that a shot inside cover does not become a search for the target inside the tube.
The reticle is in the second focal plane, which suits that job exactly. It stays the same apparent thickness across the whole magnification range, so it remains bold and instantly visible at low power in bad light — the moment when a first focal plane reticle is at its weakest. The trade is that its hash marks are only calibrated at the top magnification, so this is a scope for dialing elevation and using the reticle as an aiming point, not for holding at arbitrary powers.
MOAR gives a clean aiming point with enough marks to hold a wind call. The elevation turret ships capped under the FieldSet system — nothing to catch on brush, nothing to bump out of zero in a scabbard — and the included voucher converts it to an exposed or custom bullet-drop dial if your use changes.
