The BTX replaces the single eyepiece with two, and the reason to want it is fatigue rather than image quality.
Glassing through one eye is work. You are either squinting the other shut or consciously suppressing what it sees, and after an hour that effort shows up as eye strain, headaches, and — the part that actually costs you animals — a steadily declining willingness to keep looking. Open both eyes and the strain largely disappears. People who switch to binocular viewing routinely report glassing two or three times longer before they need a break, which in practice means covering more country rather than owning better glass.
The second benefit is that two eyes give you depth. A bedded animal in broken cover is hard to separate from the background monocularly because you are working from a flat image; with stereo vision the shape lifts out of the brush. That is exactly the detection problem that long glassing sessions are trying to solve.
What you give up is the zoom. The BTX is fixed magnification, set by the objective you pair it with — 30x on the 65mm or 85mm modules, 35x on the 95mm or 115mm. If your workflow depends on zooming in to judge a specific animal, that is a real limitation and an ATX or STX may suit you better.
Like the other eyepiece modules it needs an objective module to function, and it fits all four.
