Patch sizing is one of those details that seems trivial until you get it wrong, and then it is the only thing you can think about.
A patch that is too small does not seal against the bore. It slides through without contacting the rifling properly, comes out looking clean because it never touched anything, and convinces you the barrel is finished when it is not. A patch that is too large jams. On a tight bore it can stop dead mid-barrel with a rod behind it, and getting it out is an unpleasant afternoon.
The right size grips the bore firmly enough to scrub and to carry solvent to the surface, while still moving under steady hand pressure. You should feel resistance, not a fight.
These are the smaller of the two square patch sizes, intended for smaller-diameter bores. Square patches wrap more evenly around a jag than round ones and are less inclined to fold over on themselves, which is what causes a patch to come off in the barrel.
Sold in hundreds because that is the realistic consumption rate — a proper clean on a fouled barrel will use a dozen or more, and reusing patches simply drags fouling back into the bore.
Check Bore Tech's sizing chart against your calibre before ordering; the size that is correct for a 6mm is not correct for a .30.
