ELD Match is Hornady's competition load, and the tip is the whole argument. Hornady's own testing found conventional polymer tips soften and deform from aerodynamic heating in flight — the bullet leaves the muzzle with one BC and arrives with a worse one. The Heat Shield tip uses a heat-resistant polymer that holds its shape downrange, so the round flies to the number printed on the box.
7mm PRC is the cartridge a lot of shooters moved to when they wanted 300 PRC reach without 300 PRC recoil. This 180 grain load runs 2,960 fps with a .401 G7 — a higher G7 than the 300 PRC 225 grain match load, out of a smaller case burning less powder.
