The six-screw version of the top-half level, and the reason to want it is clamping distribution rather than raw strength. Spreading the same clamping load across six fasteners instead of four means each one carries less, the pressure around the tube is more even, and there is less chance of a localized high spot on a scope body. On heavy-recoiling rifles, on heavy scopes with a lot of mass hanging out front, and on rifles that get transported hard, that even grip is what keeps a scope from creeping in its rings over a season.
The level itself does the job every dialed shot depends on. Rifle cant redirects turret adjustment off the vertical, so elevation you dial for distance partly becomes windage you never intended. The further out you shoot, the more that hidden error costs, and it is almost impossible to detect by feel — a rolled rifle feels normal behind the eyepiece.
Putting the bubble in the top half of a ring rather than on the rail keeps it in your peripheral vision at the moment of the shot and leaves the rail free for a rangefinder or clip-on. Swapping it does not move the scope, so the rifle's zero is unaffected.
Practical note: six-screw is not an upgrade you can simply choose. The top half has to mate to a six-screw ring bottom. Count the screws on your existing rings before ordering.
