Description

The objective is the lens that takes the abuse. It faces forward into rain, blowing dust, and the debris a muzzle brake kicks back over the barrel, and on a rifle carried muzzle-down it is the first thing to meet a branch. It is also the larger and more expensive piece of glass in the scope.

A flip-up cap is the answer for a rifle that is actually being used rather than stored. It hinges out of the way in one motion, so the scope is covered right up until the moment you are behind it, and it is still attached afterward — no cap in a pocket, no cap left on the bench. That matters most on the objective end, where slip-on covers get knocked loose in a scabbard or a pack without you noticing.

Nightforce contracts these to Tenebraex and specifies the dimensions themselves, which is the difference between a cap that seats with a positive click and a universal cap that rattles or works loose. The body is a high-strength plastic blend selected for impact resistance and for staying flexible rather than brittle across a wide temperature range.

Worth knowing: this size is not NXS-only. Nightforce lists this objective cap as fitting 50mm NX8, NXS, and SHV riflescopes, so it carries across three families. It is sold individually — the eyepiece cap is a separate purchase.
