The MOA-C reticle is Nightforce's MIL-C adapted to minute of angle — a floating center dot for a refined aiming point, marked stadia for measuring and holding wind, and nothing hanging below the crosshair to compete with the target.
That emptiness is the point. If your habit is to range the target, dial elevation on the turret, and hold only for wind, the grid in a tree-style reticle is ink you are looking through rather than using. At the top of this scope's magnification range — where you are already fighting mirage, a shallow depth of field, and whatever light is left — a clean sight picture is worth more than extra holdover references you were never going to use.
The reticle is in the first focal plane, so it scales with the image and its subtensions read true at any magnification.
