The second focal plane version of Nightforce's most versatile NX8, and the one that makes more sense for a rifle that gets carried rather than set up. The reticle here is etched behind the magnifying assembly, so it holds a constant apparent size across the whole zoom range. Wind the power all the way down for a close shot in poor light and the reticle is exactly as bold as it was at full magnification — the moment where a first focal plane reticle is at its weakest.
The standing objection to second focal plane on a wide-zoom scope is that the reticle's marks only measure correctly at one magnification, which strands most of the zoom range. The MOAR-CF2 is Nightforce's answer: a dual-scale reticle carrying more than one set of calibrated subtensions, so the reticle remains usable for holds at more than a single power setting. It does not fully replicate what a first focal plane reticle does, but it removes the worst of the compromise, and it does so while keeping the reticle visible at the bottom end.
Elevation is a ZeroStop turret — set a mechanical floor at your zero and you can always dial back down to it by feel, without counting turns or reading numbers in the dark. That matters far more on a hunting rifle than it does on a bench.
Choose this over the F1 model if your shooting is mostly inside normal field distances and you value a reticle you can always see. Choose the F1 if you range and hold across the full zoom range.
