Description

The interesting engineering here is the mixed construction. The ring bodies are machined from 7075-T6 aluminum and hard anodized, which is where the weight saving comes from — but the crossbolts and jaws, the parts that actually clamp to the rail and take the load, are titanium. That combination is why Nightforce can claim steel-grade holding performance at roughly half the weight of steel rings, rather than the usual lightweight-ring compromise where you trade grip for grams.

On a mountain rifle or a backcountry gun this is one of the cheapest ounces you will ever buy back, and unlike shaving weight off a barrel or a stock it costs you nothing in performance.

Height is the decision most people get wrong. Too low and the objective bell fouls the barrel or the base; too high and you lose a consistent cheek weld and start chasing your eye position under recoil. The correct answer is the lowest height that clears your objective with a little margin, checked against your stock comb rather than guessed. Nightforce offers more height options in 30mm than in 34mm, which makes this the easier tube diameter to get exactly right.

Screw count is the other choice: four screws is Nightforce's own recommendation for most applications, with six available when you want substantially more clamping force. Whichever you pick, remember it constrains later accessory purchases — a top-half bubble level has to match the screw pattern of the ring it replaces.
